alpha-bet-soup

Ms Soup would like to advise that her blog is in the process of being updated. At a snail's pace maybe, but that's how things go in this kitchen. Right now blog activity will be historical. This may change, Ms Soup may feel more motivated and move into second gear... But, hey, what's the rush? I don't see any first prize anywhere....

R is for Rooku

Rooku, the form of poetry used in connection with the Moving Galleries, see M for Moving.

It is haiku without the rules and with an Australian bent, and two rooku are contained within the decals posted on the train compartment walls. The name rooku fascinates me and I am curious as to how the founding group arrived at the name.

Decals containing two rooku are posted on the wall inside the train carriage opposite seating, where if the passengers look up they can read them. Or if they are standing the rookus are at eye level.

Here is a sample. I have seen and read both these on a train somewhere, sometime and the last one I feel is especially evocative of the memory of a winter day at the beach.

no where near the finals
on the wing at Moorabbin
Dad pestering the coach

Between me and the moon
the fog
leaves only fence posts

Winter - forgotten seashell
in my japara pocket
spills sand

I'm spellbound by this form of poetry and want to try to write some myself.....
